Amy Jo Detweiler MS, an Associate Professor with OSU, is the Horticulture faculty for Central Oregon Extension Service. Behind the Beauty of the High Desert landscape lies many factors that create challenges for any gardener, from the novice to the expert. Learning how to work with these challenges can allow you to have a successful and beautiful garden. Some of the main factors that contribute to these difficulties include the temperature, precipitation, soil types, elevation, USDA hardiness zones, and micro-climates. Amy Jo will discuss each of these issues and allow participants to expand their knowledge and assist you in all your gardening adventures.
